Organic Aji Dulce Pepper

Description

With rich, tropical sweetness, Organic Aji Dulce Pepper is an essential ingredient for sofrito and many other Caribbean dishes. She’s become essential for our gardens and kitchens, as well! Native to the Caribbean, Ají Dulce ripens from lime green to red for her fullest flavor and Friends, we thrilled to share this seed as we select her to ripen readily and thrive here in the Northeast.

Our original seed came to us from Ed Fraser of Fraser Farms outside Rochester, New York. Since leaving Puerto Rico years ago, Ed missed Aji Dulce and, as a market farmer, wanted to grow Aji Dulce for his Puerto Rican friends in Rochester. For nearly a decade we’ve made significant selections for early maturity and high yields while maintaining the sweet, full flavor of Aji Dulce.

Also, keep in mind that Aji Dulce, as a Capsicum chinense, will yield better when started three weeks earlier and on heat mats compared to the classic C. anuum peppers.

I live in Washington state and this is my first time trying out the seeds. I started them in an Aerogarden for indoor hydro and every single seed has germinated and all plants are looking great! I plan on moving some of them outside and keeping some indoors. As a Puerto Rican that can’t get these anywhere locally, I’m excited to be able to grow my own batch (and if the Aerogarden is a success, year round!

Thank you for the quality seeds!
