Organic Early Jalapeño

80 days to red harvest Capsicum annuum

These are the earliest jalapeños we’ve found, as well as the most prolific in our short seasons. Readily ripening red, we love pickling jalapeños as well as turning them into hot sauce. We also smoke the red fruit to make our own chipotles! Since Organic Early Jalapeño is so compact, she also thrives in containers.

At Fruition, we sow peppers in soil blocks indoors 2 months before final frost, early April for us here in Zone 5, germinating them on heat mats with ease. Good light is essential: Younger, less stressed seedlings are healthier and more abundant than older, more stressed seedlings.

I usually struggle to get enough Jalapenos to make poppers (one of my wife’s favorite recipes from me), but this variety has solved the problem. I only have four plants, but each one was abundantly covered with lovely green fruit this season (2021). I even had enough to make fermented Jalapeno slices that are scrumptious. Excellent heat level and solid flavor all around! A keeper.

Germinated well. Excellent pepper flavor, BUT NOT HOT at all. I sliced and ate one raw & no heat. We have picked at various stages to include half red-green and full vibrant red, and none provided heat. I don’t know if it’s just this batch. We grew 3 plants from this packet bought 2022.

We are grateful for you sharing your reflections with us and the Fruition community and sorry to hear this experience was not as expected. Apologies that we are just now getting you a reply — we are responding to a backlog in product reviews, and iterating our teamwork to ensure we are consistently and quickly responding with care to reviews, now and in seasons to come. We appreciate your patience alongside your feedback!

Your observation is such a curiosity to us… It’s true that pepper heat production is affected by environmental factors (for example hot weather or different types of stress increase the heat-flavor). However, having *no* heat is certainly a conundrum! You never know — it could be a new mutation? We will have to ask others who have grown this and look into it. Thanks for letting us know!

Surrounding you with delight is why we do what we do– one way or another, we would love to see you find more delight this season! We have reached out to you directly by email to joyfully provide you with a coupon for a free packet of seed. Please feel free to read our Satisfaction Guarantee and email support@fruitionseeds.com should you wish to reach out any time in the future. Thanks for growing with us!
