Organic Queen Lime with Blush Zinnia
Description
As show-stopping as she is whimsical, Queen Lime with Blush unfolds soft petals, layer after layer, in spectrums of cantaloupe-salmon and electric yellow. We all found ourselves constructing reasons to go visit her each day! Given the flocks of native butterflies and pollinators surrounding her, we weren’t the only species smitten with her. Each long, strong stem is perfect for cutting and the more you harvest, the more she’ll bloom.
To see if a zinnia is at peak harvest for cutting, gently shake the stem from about eight inches below the bloom. If the stem bends even slightly, it’s not quite ready. Once the stem is stiff, harvest! We find zinnias last well over one week in a vase and often two, if kept out of direct sun.
Zinnias thrive in gardens as well as raised beds and containers & the more you harvest, the more they bloom!
At Fruition, we sow organic zinnia seeds indoors in soil blocks four weeks before final frost or directly into the soil after final frost with one foot between plants.
