Fun fact! Chard seeds often have 3 to 5 ‘seeds’ inside, so thinning is critical for healthy, abundant plants. This is true for beets as well, since they share the same genus/species, Beta vulgaris. The good news: these thinnings are also delicious!

Organic Rainbow Swiss Chard

Direct Sow (recommended): Mid-spring through mid-summer, sow 1 seed/foot, ½” deep; eat as baby greens &/or thin to 10-12” apart for full size. Thrives in garden or containers.
Transplant: Early spring, sow 2 seeds/cell ½” deep & thin to 1. Harden off (reduce water & temp 5-7 days) & transplant after heavy frosts end 10-12” apart.
