Description

HEIRLOOM If we could only grow one kale (an unfathomable notion!), Organic Red Russian Kale would be the one. Her leaves are colorful and abundant at any size and are perfect for salads, soups and kale chips throughout the year. Overwintered in the field without row cover, our Red Russian kale is impressively well-adapted for both fall, winter and spring harvest here in the Northeast.

Red Russian kale is a staple in our salads all season long, so we sow her seeds every three weeks to consistently surrounded ourselves with luscious baby leaves. And perhaps you’ve noticed: the sweetness of kale increases with cold and even freezing temperatures! We eat most of our full-size kale leaves from the snowy garden between November and May.

Very vigorous and hearty kale! Grows well direct sowed or from soil blocks. I am in in 6a/Central Ohio. Remained soft even in the heat. Withstood pest pressure (bad slug problem this spring) better than other greens. Soft enough for salads but also great in smoothies and cooking. I will buy again!
