HEIRLOOM One of our favorite plants of all time, Tulsi is a beautiful medicinal herb as well as gorgeous flower, attracting butterflies and beneficial pollinators as she and fills the air with sweet, exotic fragrance. Easy to grow and resilient in gardens as well as containers, we enjoy Tulsi both fresh and dry across the seasons.

In summer, we simply pluck leaves and often entire stems to lightly infuse our water; we also dry gallons of Tulsi leaves to steep all winter for tea.

The flavor of Tulsi is more complex than Thai Basil and though it is sometimes used in Indian and Asian kitchens, Tulsi doesn’t often get beyond the tea kettle in our house.

Come July, slow down to watch the bees as they become the same rich orange-red color as Tulsi pollen. She is truly a sight to see.

Description

HEIRLOOM One of our favorite plants of all time, Tulsi is a beautiful medicinal herb as well as gorgeous flower, attracting butterflies and beneficial pollinators as she and fills the air with sweet, exotic fragrance. Easy to grow and resilient in gardens as well as containers, we enjoy Tulsi both fresh and dry across the seasons.

In summer, we simply pluck leaves and often entire stems to lightly infuse our water; we also dry gallons of Tulsi leaves to steep all winter for tea. We also make a tincture of her leaves to take every day as an adaptogenic tonic, encouraging our bodies to adapt to stress both physical and psychological stress.

Our original seed came from the abundant and regionally adapted generosity of Edible Acres, the permacultural genius & generosity of Sean Dembrosky.
