Organic Buddha’s Hands Cosmos
2′ tall | 65-69 days to harvest | Cosmos sulphureus
Easy to grow and ready-made for containers, Buddha’s Hand is a compact 2′ tall and covered with glorious orange blossoms buzzing with hummingbirds and butterflies. She thrives in gardens, containers, and cracks in sidewalks alike. With her compact nature, Buddha’s Hand has become one of our go-to companion plants, a raucous tuft at the ends of our garden rows. With abundant food and protective habitat, she feeds butterflies, bees and countless native pollinators from early summer to frost. Plus, her seeds are easy to collect with plenty to share, so you’ll enjoy her for years if not generations to come!
Also a fabulous dye plant, Buddha’s Hand petals are also delicious tossed on salads, cakes & spring rolls.
At Fruition, we sow cosmos indoors in soil blocks 4 weeks before final frost to transplant after final frost, though you can easily direct sow cosmos after final frost, as well.
