Organic Noir Long Black Turnip
50-55 days to harvest
Brassica rapa
Description
HEIRLOOM By far the sweetest, most creamy storage turnip we’ve ever tasted, don’t be fooled: This unassuming vegetable is one of our favorites of all time! Beloved in France since the 19th Century, peel the skin of Noir Long for luscious snow white snack all winter long. Sliced, grated and in slaw, the flavor of Noir Long shines when raw, loosing their exquisite sweetness when cooked or pickled. Thanks to Patrice Fortier in Quebec stewarding Noir Long as part of the The Society of Plants, they’re truly a dream.
Real talk on winter storage roots: Grow Watermelon radish for color; grow Noir Long for flavor.

Organic Noir Long Black Turnip
Direct Seed Only: Sow mid-late summer 10 seeds/foot, ½” deep. Thin to 4” apart & enjoy the baby roots. Remarkably sweet & succulent roots mature best into the cool of fall. Spice is a sign of stress, often too much heat or too little water. Harvest 50-55 days; shoulders of roots will grow well above the soil. Shake off soil, remove top greens & refrigerate for all-winter storage. Peel black skin and enjoy raw for full sweet flavor!
