Organic Yellowstone Carrot
73 days to harvest
Daucus carota var. sativus
Description
We love these long, deep yellow roots with tall, vigorous leaves that outcompete weeds better than most carrots. Organic Yellowstone Carrot keeps her color fabulously when cooked and stores well into the New Year for us, as well.
Carrots are not easy to grow, so if you struggle, you are *so* not alone! Hop over to Fruition’s blog, Growing Carrots with Confidence, to boost your skills and reap the rewards of the challenge.
Sow Seeds & Sing Songs,
& the whole Fruition Crew
Direct Seed: The longest, sweetest carrots thrive in deep, loose & fertile soil with ample moisture. Early spring to mid-summer, sow 2 seeds/inch (16″-24″ between rows) & keep soil moist to germinate (1-3 weeks). We plant radishes every 6” in the row & weed around the row as they germ. Thin to 1-2” apart for full size roots & weed well.
Sowing Date: 2-3 weeks before last frost through mid-July
Seed Depth: 1/2 inch
Days to Germination: 7-21 days
Days to Maturity: 60 days
Plant spacing after thinning: 2 inches
