80 days to harvest Verbena hastata

NATIVE A gorgeous and easy-to-grow perennial, beneficial pollinators flock to the resplendent spires of purple vervain from early July all the way to frost. Vervain grows three to five feet high, thriving in full as well as part-sun as well as wet conditions or dry.

Medicinally, the flowering aerial tops of Blue Vervain has been used for many generations as a gentle nervine to help ease anxiety. We most often tincture our vervain to combine with skullcap and motherwort for our medicine cabinet, inspired by our dear friend Geraldine of Suntrap Botanical.

At Fruition, we sow vervain indoors in soil blocks six weeks before final frost, transplanting out after final frost with one foot between plants.
