The earliest of our large dahlias, lusciously lotus-like and luminescent with long, strong stems. Brookside Cheri is one of our favorites for cutting, flowering prolifically from mid-July to frost. She’s been a staff favorite for years and was one of the first dahlias that convinced us that yes, we can grow dahlias — massive dahlias — well-adapted for short seasons — and he never lets us down!

Organic Brookside Cheri Dahlia

Direct Sow: After last frost in 60F+ soil, plant tuber horizontally 4-6″ deep, 18-24′ apart with 1/2 cup of bonemeal. Water well until sprouts appear.
Transplant: 4 weeks before last frost, cover tuber horizontally in 2-3″ of damp and warm potting soil. If 12″ tall, pinch back apical buds. Transplant 6″ deep after last frost in warm soil with 1/2 cup of bonemeal per hole.

Seed Depth: bury root fully
Days to Germination: 10-20 days to sprout
Days to Maturity: mid-late summer until frost
Plant Spacing After Thinning: 24″
Height: 30-40 inches
