We've loved this classic romaine for over a decade, with its deep green and incredible crunch. Though we grow other varieties to compare, we keep coming back to Plato II. Certainly, we love the flavor and crunch but Plato II also has great disease resistance paired with impressive bolt-resistance to surround us with abundance all summer. As our conditions here in the Northeast grow increasingly wet, warm and harder to generalize, these traits are increasingly essential. Enjoy our video below!

We are grateful for Frank Morton's creation of Plato II and his vision to include it in the Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI) so all generations to come may continue to save and share the seed of this phenomenal variety without any proprietary restrictions.

An average good lettuce, but does not measure up to our favorite romaine, Claremont, which we must save seed for as it is no longer commercially available.

probably is because i wasnt watering enough, but i found the leaves too tough. bolted quickly in heat (also likely because i wasn't watering enough)
