Like the rest of her Papaver somniferum cousins, though Frilled White Poppy is an annual, she will delight you for seasons to come. Here's how: Establish her early in her first year (here in Zone 5, we start them indoors in early April and transplant outside in early May, a few weeks before final frost, after nearly a week of hardening them off) and let her seeds drop either naturally or with your help, sprinkling seeds wherever you desire in fall. These poppies have the dreamiest quality of popping up here and there, thriving in the least likely places, gently dotting themselves in your landscape without becoming a carpet of bossy seedlings, like calendula. Sown with care, one packet may surround you with beauty and joy for decades to come :)

Grow like a Pro: Poppies are gorgeous in bouquets though they are far from easy cut flowers. Here the trick: Harvest them just as their bud is about to break and sear the stem with a lighter. The blossom will continue to open and intriguingly, since their access to water has been cut off, the petals will be about 80% as large and the colors will be that much more vivid and concentrated. Cut poppies don't have the vase-life that zinnias or sunflowers do, but this technique helps them hold their petals many days longer. And like so many vegetables, herbs and flowers, the more you harvest the more your plants will produce! Enjoy the abundance :)
