Description

Organic Campfire Rudbeckia (Black-Eyed Susan) Relentlessly cheerful and impressively resilient, Campfire is an easy-to-grow native for most of North America. Our unique strain hails from Maine, where seed-saver Daniel MacPhee found it thriving in a back pasture of his freshly purchased homestead in Palermo. (We are so grateful he's shared this extraordinary seed with us!)

Campfire thrives in full sun and average, well-drained soil. Even in poor soils, dozens of 2 to 3 foot stalks bloom abundantly, perfect for cutting. Deadhead for extended blooms. Campfire is incredibly drought tolerant, making it ideal for large containers, as well.

Campfire can be grown as an annual in the Northeast, though our strain will return perennially up to Zone 4. Its longevity as a perennial is variable and often 4 to 5 years. Campfire will re-seed itself moderately and is very easy to propagate by root division.
