Organic New Red Fire Lettuce
45 days to harvest
Lactuca sativa
Description
Massive, gorgeous and delicious, we love Organic New Red Fire Lettuce for bolt resistance in the heat of summer. New Red Fire is also surprisingly cold tolerant, though perhaps less surprising once you know ‘Marvel of the Four Seasons’ is in her lineage. As a result, we regularly enjoy glorious heads for Thanksgiving and into December, especially when we protect her under hoops and floating row cover.
We also appreciate New Red Fire’s diverse disease resistance which is increasingly significant here in the Northeast where our climate is becoming more variable but trending toward wet, favoring both bacterial and fungal diseases.
