If you’re growing amaranth as a cut flower, sow several successions through early July for consistent harvest through frost. At Fruition, we sow amaranth indoors in soil blocks four weeks before final frost, transplanting out after final frost.

Organic Love Lies Bleeding Amaranth

Transplant : Sow indoors 4 weeks before last frost; harden off & transplant after last frost with below spacing. Direct Sow: After last frost, shallowly sow 5 seeds per foot & thin to 1 every 12-15’ once true leaves emerge. Fresh: harvest when ¾ of tiny flowers are open. Dry: harvest when seed has begun to set & flowers feel firm, right-side up in a bucket to dry.

Sowing Date: After frost; Late May- early June Seed Depth: 1/4 inch Days to Germination: 7-10 days at 70-75 F Days to Maturity: 60 Plant spacing after thinning: 12 inches Height: 4-5 feet
