If you want earlier blooms, transplant your cosmos after final frost. Here in Zone 5 in the Finger Lakes, we sow them indoors in early May, transplant them at the end of May and enjoy the first blooms in late June through August and often September.

I planted these as a perimeter around some pepper plants. They grew quite large, and I’m hoping I didn’t wait too long to cut them back so I don’t end up with a lot more next year! They added beautiful color to the garden.

This bloomed non-stop for me at Nine Mile Farm for 4 straight months.  Once seeds got a chance to form, the goldfinches loved them.  I'll be growing them every year.
