Organic Rainbow Quinoa
1oo days to harvest | Chenopodium quinoa
HEIRLOOM Yes, you can grow your own Organic Rainbow Quinoa!
Easy to grow and impressively vigorous, 5 to 6-foot spires of green leaves turn gorgeous hues of russet, burgundy and ochre as the grains mature, making an impressive hedgerow of late summer color. Closely related to lambsquarters, initial weedings of quinoa can be tricky! The good news is, just like lambsquarters, quinoa is truly not picky when it comes to soil though, like most plants, richer soil will grow taller, more robust, abundant quinoa.
Harvest quinoa once her seed heads begin to dry by cutting the entire uppermost stalk & threshing once they are completely dry. Though quinoa is easy to grow, if the temps are above 90 F when pollen is shedding it becomes sterile, which happens every few years in our gardens.
