Friends, rather than selling and shipping seeds, we now share seeds as an embodied gift practice. We are shipping all orders prior to August 28th as quick as we can, though your seeds may not arrive ’til October. Thanks for your patience and grace! After millennia of indigenous co-adaptation, collaborations at Cornell inspired the brilliance of many delectably disease-resistant cucumbers brilliantly adapted for short seasons. Marketmore 76 Cucumber is the consummate slicer, crunchy and abundant even in less than ideal conditions. Multiple disease resistances surround you with abundance even into the late season. In 2013 we direct-seeded Marketmore 76 in early June and were still eating delicious Marketmore’s in early October, from the same planting!

For the 2022 growing season, we planted one bed (3′ x 7′) of cucumbers. They were closer together than recommended, about one foot apart along each long side of the bed. There was a folded cattle panel (an arch) for trellising; Marketmore 76 along one side, National Pickling along the other. Down the center of the bed, I left a trench filled with well composted manure covered over with black fabric weedblock. The cukes were direct seeded the third week of May.
Despite the crowding, the Marketmores were very productive. They had no bitterness, caused very little burping and looked beautiful. We loved them, but could not eat them fast enough. Though we did our best using them up as tomato-cucumber salad; yogurt-cucumber-dill salad; Tzatziki; in tossed salads; and cucumber sandwiches for high tea every other day, we still had plenty to donate to the local food cupboard.
I didn’t see any problems except a few striped cucumber beetles which I dispatched immediately. The vines remained productive through the second week of September.
I highly recommend Fruition’s Organic Marketmore 76 cucumbers.
