Hailing from the Czech Republic, Crimson Gold is fondly known as ‘Svatava,’ named for the river flowing between Germany and the Czech Republic. Once in the United States, Svatava was renamed Crimson Gold to celebrate its luminous glow. Crimson Gold has become as famous for its excellent resistance to Apple Scab disease as for its ability to hold in ideal storage for 6 to 8 months. Its unique aromatic sweetness and bright tart resonates with every crisp juicy bite.

Please note: Do not confuse this great new disease resistant Apple named Crimson Gold with the older classic superb variety of the same name bred by the famous Albert Etter. In a wacky legal twist, the classic Etter variety lost its unique claim to an old name due to the “fun” rules around Registered Trademarks. Frustrating and confusing we agree, but one piece of good news is that they are both very good Apples!

Our Organic Crimson Gold Dwarf Apple Trees are bareroot nursery stock, and are graded to a minimum of 30” tall when Fall-dug from the nursery. All of our Organic Dwarf Apple varieties are grafted onto dwarfing apple rootstock Geneva 41, making them easier to pick, prune and maintain than standard sized trees. Cold hardy as well as resistant to Fireblight, Phytophthora and replant disease, Geneva 41 bears fruit in just a few years. Most Apple varieties will grow between 6 and 10 feet tall at maturity, requiring full support from staking or trellising throughout their lifespan. The reduced tree size allows trees to be spaced 4 to 6 feet apart if planted in a row, making Apple varieties grafted onto Geneva 41 good candidates for Espalier or other trellis systems.

Crimson Gold needs another Apple variety nearby for Pollination! All of the Apples we offer are compatible pollination partners.

These rootstocks and some of our fruit tree varieties are patented... to learn more, hop over here.
