HEIRLOOMS I've loved Scarlet Emperor beans since childhood, watching hummingbirds zoom through the branches and monarchs float through the glowing crimson flowers. The heart-shaped foliage grows 10’ tall and higher, quickly becoming a tower of gorgeous scarlet flowers. The pods are massive and super sweet as well, often growing over a foot long before becoming fibrous. If you miss their delicious snap bean stage, their shelling beans are large and luscious and finally their huge seeds --- gorgeously raspberry with black streaks --- are delectable as rich, creamy dry beans to enjoy all winter

If you're wondering if Scarlet Emperor beans will thrive in containers, they do! The larger the pot and the richer the soil the taller and more blooms they'll grow :)

5 of 5 Joyful beans October 24, 2020
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Rochester, NY
The red blossoms kept on coming all season, and I loved teaching my kids the joys of tasting the flowers and beans at all stages. Opening up the pods and tasting the gorgeous purple-pink seeds was like discovering a secret treasure in the backyard. My children won’t eat a green bean at any meal, but will pick and eat these straight from the runners.

4 of 5 Great beans December 22, 2018

Great beans, but get stringy if you don't pick them early. Once I learned to pick them at a younger stage we had delicious beans for many weeks!

None of my pole beans were world beaters this year but these did the best.
