Organic Supermarconi Pole Romano Bean
80 days to harvest
Phaseolus vulgaris
Description
HEIRLOOM We love the walls of vivid green, heart-shaped leaves studded with deep violet flowers turning into cascades of long, luscious romano beans, wide and sweet. Organic Supermarconi Pole Romano Bean’s green pods stay tender and sweet longer than most as they lengthen to six inches, eight inches often more. And if you miss them as a green bean, their marble-sized black beans are delectable all winter, as well.

These beans are my very favorite. They take a while to produce, as all pole beans do, but when they start producing, boy do you get a lot of beans, one plant will produce well over 100 beans pods. What I really like about this variety of beans is: 1) It takes a long time for them to produce the black beans inside so you have a longer harvest time before they go to seed; 2) I like to French cut my green beans, and these beans work great for that, I just canned 70 of these bean pods (all from one plant) that were French cut, it produced 4 pints worth!!; 3) No string to remove; 4) Great flavor; 5) You can keep the seeds to plant for the next year, or eat them over the winter in chili or soup.
