63 days to harvest Cucumis sativus

As Downy mildew becomes more and more prevalent, this cucumber will become more and more known, grown and beloved. With impressive resistance to Downy mildew, Organic NY Slicing 264 Cucumber has become our go-to for our July cucumber successions, deliciously abundant and undaunted in the height of late summer disease, powering on ’til frost.

A quintessential American slicer with classic flavor, the remarkable thing is this: cucumbers are still abundant in your garden, weeks after all other varieties have turned brown and died. Thank you to millennia of indigenous seedkeepers for co-adapting cucumbers and thank you to Cornell University for regionally adapting so many fabulous cucumbers for short seasons!

Organic NY Slicing 264 Cucumber

Planting Method: Direct Seed Recommended

To Direct Seed: Sow after last frost, 2 seeds every 3 feet (thinning to 1). We sow a new succession every 2-3 weeks through mid-July. (Make sure your final successions have resistance to powdery and downy mildew so you’ll continue to harvest fruit til frost!)

For Transplanting: Sow indoors 2-3 weeks before last frost in peat pots (plant entire pot) or soil blocks to minimally disturb roots when transplanted. Harden off and transplant after last frost.

Seed Depth: 1/2 inch       Days to Germination: 10 at 70°F (21°C); 3 at 80°F (26°C)

Sun Needs: Full

Spacing (after thinning/transplanting): 3 feet; 30-36 inches between rows

Trellis for easier harvest, straighter fruits, & less disease pressure.

Days to Harvest: 63      Height: 5-foot+ vines
