Organic Tavera Filet Bean Had we but one bean to eat all summer, this surely is the one. Exceptionally tender, stringless and nutty-sweet, Tavera is simply luscious. (This style bean is especially popular in France where it has been selected for centuries and is known as French Filet or Haricot Vert beans.) Tavera is a very compact, high-yielding variety that is resistant to Anthracnose and Bean Common Mosaic Virus, as well.
Our Thoughts on Green Beans
We offer two green bush snap beans, Provider and Tavera, because they serve unique functions in our garden. If you want to pickle and preserve, Provider is your bean. Abundance all at once makes preservation easy: Provider the perfect bean to feed you through the winter. We plant Provider first (mid-May) because it grows in cooler soils so we eat Provider first --- but when Tavera (planted late May/early June) is on our plates two to three weeks later there is no looking back. Every year we're blown away by their exquisite flavor and delicate texture. If flavor is why you garden, Tavera is for you.

Seeds to Always Direct Sow
Tavera Bush Filet Bean Direct Sow Only: Once soil is warm & frost danger has passed, sow 1" deep every 3 inches & thin to 6" with at least 18” between rows. Harvest young pods before beans swell for best yield. Sow every 2-3 weeks through mid-July for continual harvest. Inoculants often increase yields. Dark seeds germinate in cool soils better than white seeds.
