Organic Ground Cherry

A taste of the tropics, the vivid marble-sized fruits of ground cherries surround us with abundance early to mid-July all the way to frost. We've tasted a lot of ground cherries and Friends, these have the most pineapple flavor of any we've tasted! At Fruition, we sow ground cherries six weeks before final frost, potting up with each set of true leaves and transplanting out after final frost with two feet between plants. We trellis our ground cherries similarly to determinate tomatoes, since they grow about 4' tall and more light in their canopy ripens more fruit!
