Homegrown flour corn, freshly ground, tastes like nothing else on earth. Rich and earthy, nutty and sweet, this is what real food tastes like! Fruition’s Glass Gem as well as Italy Hill popcorn both grind into fabulous flour and especially polenta. Fun and also challenging to grow in a home garden, a minimum of 20 plants sown in a block rather than a long row, allowing your ears to pollinate well. At Fruition Seeds, we sow corn seeds directly in the soil after final frost. We sow flour corn just once after final frost in early summer so it has plenty of time to mature delicious popcorn before frost. Also, corn is a ‘heavy feeder,’ so be sure to feed your corn with nutrient-dense compost as well as fish emulsion for an abundant harvest.
