Easy to grow and one of Fruition’s favorites, Edamame is simply a soybean harvested green, just as the pods are beginning to plump. Edamame is harvested for optimum flavor and texture when the beans inside each pod are beginning to swell. Often 80% of the pods mature at once, making them easy to harvest at once for supper as well as the freezer. Sow edamame once the soil is warm, after final frost has passed, succession sowing every 3 weeks until about three months before fall frost, often in mid-July here in Zone 5, to enjoy a consistent harvest 'til frost.
