When & How to Harvest Your Ginger

Friends, WoOohoOoo! It’s time to harvest ginger!

Timing is key: Ginger needs as much time to grow her gorgeous rhizomes as possible (at least 3 and half months after transplanting!). Ginger can be harvested ASAP right after first frost – this will give as much time as possible to grow. Ginger can also be harvested before frost when her leaves are still green, in order to enjoy both the leaves for tea and the rhizomes. There you have it!

Use the right tools: Harvest your ginger with a digging fork, giving each plant a wide berth so you don’t accidentally puncture your glorious rhizomes.

We love to share what we love... and we love Ginger & Turmeric! And Friends, while this course is focused on Ginger, much the same site choice, planting, and basic care considerations are true for Turmeric!
