60 days to harvest Phaseolus vulgaris

HEIRLOOM We’ve never seen or tasted a bean quite like this: Organic Sequoia Bush Romano Bean is velvety smooth and luminescent purple, tender yet meaty, savory yet sweet. She’s well adapted to cool, short seasons after many years of being selected by our dear friend Owen of Annapolis Seeds, in the heart of Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley. Owen gifted Matthew and I these seeds in 2013 and we were instantly smitten at first sight and bite!

Only 50 days to harvest here in zone 7a after planting in June. This is an eye catching variety and plants are producing a good number of beans with no disease problems. Best not left too long before picking as they can have a substantial string if you leave them get too large. Tender, tasty and keeps well for days in the refrigerator. Will definitely be planting this variety again next year.

This bean not only delivers on exceptional taste-super sweet raw and delicious added to salads on the day of harvest- it is a stunner visually! We absolutely love the surprise of peaking beneath leaves to find these hidden amethyst jewels.

This is my favorite of the purple bush beans so far and in my top three of bush beans overall. (I’ve grown 15 varieties of bush bean, so that’s saying something!) The plants are large and hardy and the beans are both visually beautiful and delicious. It’s a productive bean as well.
