With luminescent black plum petals, Black Wizard stands on her own while complementing everything around her with long, strong stems perfect for cutting. Black Wizard is also one of our first dahlias to bloom each season, surrounding us with dozens and dozens of blossoms from mid-July to frost here in Zone 5.

*Friends, we will be sharing a very limited stock of dahlia tubers in 2023 followed by a pause on sharing dahlia tubers in future years. As such we will not be launching on a specific date & time this year. If a product is "Out of Stock", we are truly out of stock.

Organic Black Wizard Dahlia

Direct Sow: After last frost in 60F+ soil, plant tuber horizontally 4-6″ deep, 18-24′ apart with 1/2 cup of bonemeal. Water well until sprouts appear.
Transplant: 4 weeks before last frost, cover tuber horizontally in 2-3″ of damp and warm potting soil. If 12″ tall, pinch back apical buds. Transplant 6″ deep after last frost in warm soil with 1/2 cup of bonemeal per hole.

Seed Depth: bury root fully
Days to Germination: 10-20 days to sprout
Days to Maturity: mid-late summer until frost
Plant Spacing After Thinning: 24″
Height: 30-40 inches
