Stony Brook Pumpkin Seed Oil Stony Brook is a visionary company we collaborate with here in the Finger Lakes. They make incredibly delicious and impressively nutritious oils from regionally grown and freshly pressed winter squash seeds.
Pumpkin Seed Oil is exceptionally rich with roasted nut character that compliments a wide range of flavors. Its smoke point is lower than butter (250 F) with a fraction of the saturated fat of butter, making it an oil for drizzling and dipping. Although we don't cook with this oil we drizzled it on salads and on already roasted vegetables, grilled meats and enjoy it in dozens of other ways that continually surprise and delight us. For those with nut allergies, it adds rich nut flavor and nutrition to almost anything. Pumpkin Seed Oil is one of the richest sources of Omega 6 fatty acids, as well.
This oil contains only one ingredient: simply the oil from regionally grown, roasted and cold-pressed pumpkin seeds.
It has a shelf life of five months opened on the shelf and twice as long in the fridge, though that's largely unnecessary: we enjoy 2 to 3 bottles a month.
