Organic Cold-Hardy Lettuce

Cold-hardy lettuce surrounds us with abundance in fall, winter and spring. Young plants are more resilient than mature plants; hoops and floating row cover also go a long way in extending your harvest of cold-hardy greens. Winter Density is our cold-season go-to and who knew that romaines were so cold-tolerant, as well? It’s true! Also, our gorgeous New Red Fire looseleaf has Marvel of the Four Seasons in her parentage, making her remarkably bolt-tolerant in summer and cold-tolerant in fall.

At Fruition, we direct sow baby leaf lettuce as well as transplant seedlings in soil blocks for lettuce heads from early spring through early fall.
