Organic Regatusso Garlic - Aromatic depth and pleasently mild without singeing heat, even when raw. Large wagon wheel shaped flat and wide, up to 4" across with beautifuly bright purple skins. Brought to New York in the Genesee Valley from southern Italy in the early 1900's by the Regetusso Family. Artichoke softneck with 8-12 cloves per bulb.

Average 40 cloves per pound.

‘Artichoke’ Type: These softnecks do not produce scapes and are among the most productive garlics to grow. They readily develop very large bulbs in a wide range of growing conditions and soils, maturing before many other types. Their bulb wrappers are generally thick and coarse compared to other varieties and are generally white or white-purple. Artichoke cultivars have multiple clove layers (though not as many as Silverskins), the inner cloves generally being smaller than the outer cloves. Artichoke cultivars are typically mild with modest flavor complexity and lack the assertive heat of most garlics. As a group they are less adapted to cold, harsh winters but often adapt well after several seasons (which ours are). Also as a group they store exceptionally long (often a year or more), only exceeded in storage by the Silverskins.

This is the first time I've planted garlic and, Oh My, it is amazing.  The plants are healthy and tall and I can't wait for harvest.

5 of 5 Best garlic ever! June 13, 2019

Wow, Regatusso blew me away! So delicious! It's so dense, sugary and crunchy, just like candy when cooked. Plus the cloves are huge!
This was my first time growing my own garlic and I didn't even expect  it to be this satisfying. Will continue to save and grow my own from Fruituion's cloves for sure!

...I just pulled our first planting , and is quite a robust nicely shaped bulb....definitely not the pinwheel shape as advertised. I don't know what you sent, but it's one of the nicest softnecks we ever grew....gonna be sticking this one back in the ground for sure!!!!
