Organic Black Eagle Wheat HEIRLOOM Delectable & ornamental, Black Eagle is a spring wheat with black-tinted heads & exquisitely sweeping 6 inch awns. It’s color is deepest when not over watered and harvested prior to full grain development, when the stalk still is pliable and green-gold.

We recommend direct sowing your Black Eagle wheat 1 inch deep soon after the soil can be worked in mid-spring, 5 seeds per foot thinned to 3. Weed well, especially in the first 6 weeks. Wheat needs support if stalks begin to topple, which is most likely the result of abundant nutrition. Harvest seed when kernels fill out and harden, turning more red.

95 days to maturity

Tried this in a new location in the garden and it was all eaten. Looked lovely, but the birds got it all.
