Organic Pink-Tip Greasy Snap Pole Bean HEIRLOOM If unusual varieties with exquisite flavor appeal to you, Pink-Tip Greasy beans are sure to inspire you. We first fell in love with this bean before we even ate them, their petite pods borne two at a time so each laden vine is covered in leaping green leiterhosen! And then we ate them. These pods are so small (the length of a little finger) and so tender, their fresh nuttiness full of a rich, sweet flavor that we've never tasted so dramatically in a bean. They are our favorite snap beans for salads, without question, and though they are two weeks later than our other pole beans they are oh so worth the wait and endlessly productive, to boot.

As the pods mature, the beans inside swell and the pods themselves become shiny as if lacquered, 'greasy' beans indeed! Soon the bottom tip of the bean turns vaguely pink and this is the stage they are grown for down South, where the whole pod is simmered with ham hock til everything melts in your mouth in a most marvelous way.

I planted these beans in a 50 foot row and got a good yield from them. I thought they were never going to get full!  All the other beans had already came and gone and these were still going.   Once they did it was a great bean, I couldn't get enough of them!
