Organic Great Green Chervil HEIRLOOM Once the snows finally melt and we're hankering for green we can always rely on Chervil to be sitting there, robust and undaunted, right where we planted it the fall before. Sweet and tender, it's fern-like leaves add the essence of anise to our salads in fall, winter and spring. A readily re-seeding annual, Chervil has a life cycle uniquely suited for permaculture: sow in the fall where it overwinters uncovered and grows again as soon as the snow begins to melt to flower in late May. Dropping their seeds in summer, they germinate in September once the temperatures begin to dip and the cycle continues. We especially love Chervil under fruit trees and in perennial herb bed where it maintains itself brilliantly and offers its abundance in otherwise meager times of the year.

worked well in a pot December 12, 2017

Rather than put the chervil in a shady spot where I might forget about it, I grew this in a pot on a covered porch. It did well. Only trouble is that I didn't grow enough. Will use a larger pot next year.
